Hunting, Quads, and DS's?
Being back to work this week has been rough. Especially since things are so quiet. And I thought I was bored being at home for my last week of vacation. I didn't end up going to Ottawa for the long weekend. It just didn't work out with a death in the extended family and the friends I most wanted to visit weren't going to be around. It was tough being stuck in Sudbury though since it was a veritable ghost town in terms of my local friends not being around.
So the apartment hunt is moving along somewhat. I've at least had the drive to make phone calls and drive around a bit looking for numbers. No luck yet, but there is one place that I'm going to set up an appointment to view in the next few days.
I think the highlight from my time away was visiting my friend Mel in Bancroft. I very much felt like a city boy being out there in the country and meeting some of her friends. But she took me 4-wheeling which was an absolute blast. We did some very rugged trails, and some flat and open trails at like 50 km/h. Never having ridden a quad, or even a snow mobile I've never quite understood the appeal. Now I definitely understand and it was great to see that side of Mel since I had never seen the country girl side of her before. I even got to walk away with proof of my adventures - some minor scratches on my arms from whipping through the forest.
I've been looking at getting a cell phone this week. I think it's about time I get one. The plan is to use it as my only phone once I move so I've been doing a lot of research on phones and plans. There's a plan I can get through the School Board which looks to be the best deal. All in all though it won't come cheap. It's looking like it'll cost me around $45/month. I'm going to go at lunch to look at a couple phones.
I'm still enjoying my Nintendo DS Lite. I've nearly completed New Super Mario Brothers. By completed I mean getting every coin and opening every level. I've got about 5 levels left but it'll be tough since it turns out I wasted all my save points. I have Tertis and Mario Kart as well for quick game playing fixes. I can play a level or two, race a couple tracks, line up a few dozen lines of blocks and then put it down. I still haven't explored all the features of each game so hopefully they'll keep me busy enough to resist the urge to buy more games. Not to mention the fact that I have a long way to go before I master Tetris or Mario Kart - they are pretty challenging games. I'm thinking I might pick up Brain Age though. I've heard tons about it and for a non-game is sounds pretty fun. It's basically just a bunch of tasks and puzzles to try and exercise your brain - one of those innovative titles that any respectable DS owner has to own.
