100th Post
Wow. This is post #100 here in my playground. Kinda hard to believe I've posted this much on here. I'll have to take a look at my older entries sometime soon.
My BBQ went quite well Friday night. Running around making sure 9 people have food and refreshments can be quite tiring. And I wasn't even the one doing the BBQ'ing. Luckily Steve, Gerry, and Toby looked after that for me. Thursday night I bought some chips, nachos, salsa, marble cheese, popcorn, two cases of Fruitopia, and some chicken hot dogs and buns. All I have left is a case of Fruitopia, one hotdog, one bun, and the popcorn. It was really nice having all 9 of us sitting around one table and eating. The conversations were pretty funny. Afterwards we went to the beach. Some of us tossed a frisbee around, others sat on the rocks and chatted, while others went for a dip in the lake. We then went back to my place and I brought my TV into the living room so we could watch The Incredibles. Pixar sure knows how to make movies. The Jack-Jack Attack short is an absolute riot. I got to bed at around 2:30am by the time everyone left and I did some cleaning up. It was a great night and I know Mel appreciated it as her send-off. She was here for 5 weeks on a placement, but after talking with her earlier in the week she really had no idea how quickly she fit right into our group. I know I'll miss her and I'm sure others will too. Mel definitely didn't want to leave Saturday morning so maybe she'll be back sometime soon to visit at least.
The rest of my weekend was spent relaxing in my air conditioned house watching movies or playing games. I could definitely get used to living there all by my lonesome, but there's too much extra stuff to look after like plants. There's one plant my mom told me to water if it looked droopy. So I did, but it hasn't righted itself yet. I hope I didn't kill it. Teresa came over last night for supper so it was nice to have a bit of company.
It's hard to believe that in less than 5 days I'll be frolicking amongst the palm trees in Florida. My plane ticket and travel insurance are now bought and paid for on my VISA as of this morning. I'm still waiting for the bus ticket to show up on my VISA so I can pay that off before I leave. I want to have as much room on my card as possible. I can use my debit card while I'm down there but it costs around $3 for every transaction. Yuck. I'll have to get used to the fact that all American paper money is green. AND I'll have to get used to the humidity. It's supposed to go up to 36°C (96°F) today but with no more than 55% humidity. Apparently, down in Boca Raton, 80% humidity is the norm there. *gulp* So I'll definitely be going to get some more t-shirts and shorts this week before I leave. And some sun glasses for driving.
Matthew.
