A Weekend At The Movies

I ended up missing a day of work on Thursday mostly because of a nasty chest cough. The strangest thing was throwing up Wed night. I'm not sure if I caught something, ate some bad lunch meat for lunch that day, or if it was my meds that was the cause. All I know is I felt much better afterwards. I just I would have been able to finish my pizza that night. I've still got the cough. It usually takes me a while to get rid of coughs because of my asthma and allergies, so who knows how long this one will last.

I ended up seeing two movies this weekend at the theatre. Both viewings were totally unplanned and spontaneous. Batman Begins was really really good. I was totally impressed that Christopher Nolan could do a summer blockbuster so well. I hardly remember any bad language in the movie, so aside from the violence it was quite clean. Christian Bale does a great job in both roles, but his face looks a little strange in the Batman mask. I think it's his big cheeks. Mr. and Mrs. Smith was also pretty good. I didn't enjoy it as much as Batman, but it was a funny movie. I was a little worried about the sexuality in the movie which was quite apparent from the trailers, but it was really pretty tame. My respect for Brad Pitt as an actor continues to grow. I always assumed he got his roles solely based on his good looks. But ever since Fight Club I knew he was an actor worth watching. In my mind he's someone that doesn't take himself too seriously which shows up on screen during the comedic moments. There's definitely chemistry between he and Angelina Jolie so it's easy to see where the rumors between them come from.

Lately I've been discovering how ready I am to move out on my own. I talked with my buddy Steve a few weeks back and he and I think we'd have a blast as roommates. I really don't want to do the apartment thing so I'll either be renting or *gulp* buying a house. I definitely can't go on denying my adult-hood if I become a home owner. I talked to my folks about it and they'd prefer that I buy a house so my money doesn't end up lining someone else's pockets, but I'd have to wait longer than I'd like to come up with a good down payment. So we'll see. But now as I travel around the city my eyes gravitate towards the For Sale signs I seem to see everywhere. Hopefully I'll get some good news real soon about my contract soon since it ends next Thursday.

Matthew.
