A Fun-Packed Weekend
I think I need another day off just to recover from my long weekend. It was totally a chore to drag myself out of bed this morning. The weekend was definitely worth it though.
Friday was Canada Day so we had the day off. In the morning I just relaxed and watched a movie while laying in bed. Toby and Alysha called me around lunch and wanted to catch Batman Begins. Yeah I know I saw it already, but it was worth seeing again. They enjoyed it a lot as well. Afterwards we went for supper at Kelsey's and then went and played Cranium and Pictionary at a friend's place. We heard the fireworks going off but we didn't go and watch. From what I heard they were absolutely horrid last year so I wasn't about to fight the crowds for them this year. Last year I was in Ottawa and they were spectacular.
Saturday I spent relaxing around the house for the most part. It didn't look like anyone was going to call me so I went to Blockbuster. It had been a while since I was last there on my own. I rented Ocean's 12 and Hotel Rwanda, and bought used copies of The Incredibles and National Treasure. When I got home a message from Alysha was waiting for me. So I went to their place and watched The Pacifier. It was an okay movie. A little too cheesy for my liking, but there were some amusing parts.
Yesterday, Sunday, I was only home enough to eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I did a lot of eating and running. The church service was decent. They were having some technical difficulties with the music, but the message was good. It was an anti-prosperity message. I went home, had lunch, and then drove out to Star Bucks to meet my friend Amanda who was driving through town. I hadn't seen her in a few years and it was a lot of fun catching up. Then I went to hang out with Teresa for a bit. For those of you who knew something was going on between the two of us, we decided not to date. With her moving away in a month the timing was just all wrong. It still wasn't an easy decision to make. After I got home and was in the middle of eating I got a phone call about a bon fire happening at a friends place. I thought about staying home, but I figured why not go? We ended up going for a swim, roasting marshmallows and making smores. Once again a good time was had by all.
In the works right now is my trip to the Eastern States to visit all my crazy internet friends. I've never gone on a trip like this, let alone planned something like this so I'm going to check out the travel agency around here to see what they think about my plans. At the moment I'm thinking of flying down to Miami and driving myself back up, but it might cause complications when trying to clear customs. Not to mention the fact that I don't have a passport, so that'll slow things down as well. I was getting pretty discouraged about it all on Friday so hopefully the travel agency will have some encouraging news for me when I go after work.
Oh and a happy 4th of July to all my crazy American friends!
Matthew.
