Band Drama
Tonight I have band practice. This will be the first night that Dan will be playing bass with us. Gerry has decided to stop playing bass for now because he's quite busy with work and organizing the small groups at church. I'm definitely sad not to have him around any more cause he was a great player and just plain fun to have around. But I'm glad he realized that he was starting to spread himself too thin and dropped something before he got burned out.
There hasn't been a practice for a few weeks and that's gotten Bruce, our drummer, a little up in arms. The week before I left for Toronto was supposed to be our first practice with Dan, but one of the other teams needed the church to practice. Knowing it was important for them since they were playing that Sunday night and it would be a few weeks for us, I gave up our practice spot for them. Well Bruce didn't take it too well. Apparently he even went so far as to have words with the other team leader who "stole" our practice time. Things were actually going pretty well with the band and now this happens. It definitely makes being a leader harder for me. I mean who likes trying to deal with conflict?
I've just been so unmotivated lately which means I'm giving into the depression more. I just can't seem to get my act together and look for an apartment. Or a job. I even skipped the youth Bible study last night for no reason other than I didn't feel like going. That's all fine and dandy for one time, but for me it sets a precedent, making it easier the next time to justify not going. Same deal with practice. It can be pretty easy to come up with an excuse to cancel it. I really have to watch myself.
