I'm in Toronto
After close to a 5 hour drive, I pull into my hotel at around 8pm. Traffic was very heavy once highways 69 and 11 merge into the 400. So the last 2 hours was pretty slow going at times. It still just doesn't make sense to me how a 6 to 8 lane divided highway can get so congested that it crawls to a stop. Other than that it was a pretty uneventful trip. At one point when all the crazy traffic was happening, a guy to my right and about half a car in front of me stuck his arm out the window to give someone the finger. I figured it was directed at me even though, as far as I can tell, the only thing I did was happen to be in his blind spot as he went to move over into my lane without signaling. Some people are just plain horrible drivers.
The hotel George and I are it is pretty nice. Free high-speed internet. There's a microwave, coffee maker and bar fridge for my use. All I'd need is a little toaster oven and I'd be all set, but I can only imagine the fires that would happen if they put those in the rooms. Kinda strange to think I'll be living in this room for a week. I'm definitely glad I could borrow a laptop from work. Although the keyboard is a little tough to get used to. It's requiring a little more force than it should. If I don't press the keys forcefully it skips letters on me. Or maybe I'm just typing too fast for it... never figured I'd ever say something like that.
Tomorrow is the first day of training - George and I are meeting at 8am for breakfast and then taking his car to the training facility. Let the learning begin!
Matthew.
