I Guess If I Updated More Often These Things Wouldn't Be So Long
Whew. I think I survived my week with the minimum of injuries. Wednesday night was a lot of fun. The Martins really outdid themselves with the turkey dinner. So yummy. There were about 17 of us in total so we had a good turnout. After dinner we played Catch Phrase which was a riot.
Thursday's practice went quite well. There's still lots to work on but the guys stayed together for the most part. Hopefully they'll be ready to play on a Sunday night soon after the New Year.
Friday night was yet another turkey dinner. Not that I'm complaining. Heh heh. It was a little strange being with another church so we pretty much kept to ourselves. Only 4 of our youth showed up which was a little disappointing. They had an improv team due the entertainment after the meal. They were pretty good, but letting loose in a crowd does not come easy to me at all. Luckily I wasn't picked to do anything. After the dinner Steve, Mel and I went back to Steve's and watched Batman Begins. Mel's pretty funny in the more dramatic scenes as she starts gasping in shock. I ended up getting home at around 2am.
Saturday I woke up to an undecorated Christmas tree. Apparently my new annual job is to put the lights on the tree. So I spent an hour or two putting them up. We have come lights and do different effects like blinking and fading that we used to use on the windows of our old house. So to be different I used them on the tree this year. My parents seem to like them. That night was the staff party at my boss's house. Man does he ever have a nice place. The washroom even has 2 sinks. I was a little worried about how things would be once the booze started flowing but, as is normal, I was worried for nothing. We ate some lasagna and salad and them played Charades. Fun times let me tell you. For the second night in a row I got home at around 2am.
So needless to say I was pretty tired yesterday once I dragged myself out of bed for church. I don't remember too much of either service. I do remember people jiving on stage to one of the songs during the morning service. After the evening service a few of us ended up at Paul's place playing MadGab. That game is also a lot of fun.
And then we had about 60 seconds of chaos. Someone spilled some Coke on the rug so I went to get some paper towels. Well during my second trip I stepped down from the futon I was walking on because the couches were in such a tight circle. Well when I stepped down I expected carpet, not the slippery linoleum floor that I ended up stepping on. Next thing I new I tried to brace my fall with my right elbow as my feet came out from under me. My elbow ended up on a big purple exercise ball which rolled and stretched my shoulder in a really bad position. This is the second time in the last month since something has happened to that shoulder so it pretty much hurts any which way I move it not. I hardly slept last night because I was so uncomfortable. I've made an appointment with my doctor, but he can't see me until Thursday, so I might go to the drop-in clinic tonight. Even using a mouse is uncomfortable because of the way my shoulder twists in the socket. Ugh.
So for the last 6 or 7 weeks Mel was back in town on another placement. And once again she's left us as she tries to finish her Masters in Physiotherapy. It was nice to have her back as she fits in perfectly with our groups. She was a big part of youth and college & careers while she was here. She's a hard person to keep up with though cause she's always on the go. Heh heh. She'll be missed and we're all hoping, including her, that she can find a job here once she's graduated in about a year. She'll be in India for a 2 month placement this summer which is pretty cool.
Just two more people to shop for now. My oldest sis, and my nephew. I talked with Christi-Ann and I think I'm going to look for some bathtub toys for him. Those should be fun to shop for.
Oh! I'm also home alone for the next few days as my mom and dad are going to Toronto for an appointment with a specialist. I'm hoping to have Steve over so we can make some noise playing computer games and/or watching a movie. Time to give my sub-woofer a workout. :D
Matthew.
