Let The Craziness Begin!
This week coming is going to be a busy one. Aside from a number of tasks I need to get done at work this week my evenings are going to be packed come Wednesday.
Wednesday night a family from the church is throwing us a Christmas party and dinner. And by dinner I'm talking turkey with all the trimmings. We were all kinda shocked they wanted to have us over, let alone cook for us. We're having a $5 gift exchange so it should be interesting to see what people come up with. I'm sure there will be plenty of candy/chocolate being wrapped up.
Thursday night I have practice with my boys. This past Thursday I was feeling pretty discouraged about the whole thing. I just don't know how to lead them properly. I can't walk over to the drums and show the drummer some patterns to try out. I can't walk over to the bass and show him runs to do. I'm definitely not going to bother trying to come up with someone for the piano. It's been way to long since I last touched a piano keyboard. I just wish I had another solid musician in the group to help anchor the band.
Friday night is kind of a city-wide youth dinner. Well it's technically for youth and college and careers but I'm sure just the idea of having youth around will turn a lot of people my age off. Not to mention that the evening is $15 and it's a semi-formal occasion. Just the idea of a tie is enough to scare me away. But we're going as a youth group so I'll be going.
Saturday night I'll be at my bosses for a yet another Christmas party. I wonder if 3 parties in 4 nights is some kind of record. I wasn't able to go to last year's because I came down with the flu. So I'm not too sure what to expect beyond some of the guys getting completely drunk. Obviously I'm not excited about that part of it, but we'll see how it goes. I'll definitely be bringing my own vehicle so I can take off whenever I want. Some of the gang from College and Careers are hoping to go skating / play hockey, but I won't be able to go. As much as the idea of me on ice skates makes me recall all the pain it has causes me over the years I think I'd rather do that. Heh heh.
I'm half-done my Christmas shopping, but I can't think of what to get my sisters or Brady. What does one get a 3-month old? Any idears?
Matthew.
