Sick Again :(
A few month ago, my Colitis was doing much better so with my doctor's permission I started taking just one pill a day instead of two. Unfortunately I had a flare up about two months later and have now been back up to two pills a day for the past two months. My Colitis is under control again, but I had almost forgotten what the side effects of the pills are. They are immuno-suppressants which means they take my immune system down by a notch or two. I'm supposed to be going for blood tests once a month but I keep forgetting.
And now for the second time in less than a month, I've got a blasted head cold. Sunday night I wasn't able to sing so thankfully Ron was able to fill in for me. I stayed home from work yesterday and slept the morning away. I still wanted to do that this morning, but I'm here. I'd rather not use up all my sick days in during my first month as a permanent employee.
Practice on Thursday night was pretty overwhelming. My expectations for the boys were way too high. It'll be probably another month until they are ready to play as a band... which means not until the New Year. They are all good musicians which plenty of potential they just aren't used to playing with other people. We had fun and made some progress but it was definitely discouraging for me.
Friday night at youth went really really well. It was a smaller group than usual but that was fine by me. Especially since there wouldn't have been enough ice cream to go around if more had shown up. I definitely had them stumped with my Bible-verse clues, maybe a little too much. But they seemed to be enjoying themselves anyways. The Quest video this week was about Hell... I'll be thanking Steve for letting me tackle that one. Sheesh. It was hard not to be too critical of their answers since it's a fine line between keeping the dialogue going and making them feel like they'll be jumped on if they answer incorrectly. I think I'll watch this week's session in advance so I won't be caught so off guard. I have to say though how well the videos are put together and how well Phil, the host, spells things out. I know I'm getting a lot out of them as a leader.
Matthew.
