Stuffed With Pizza
I guess it's about time I update this thing huh? Despite being terribly bored at work, mostly cause of the type of work I've been doing, I haven't had much time or drive to write something.
I bought the first season of Lost about two weeks ago and I finally finished it on Saturday. There were definitely a few times things started to look pretty cheesy, but by sticking with it and finishing the episode it became apparent why they went in that direction. It's a good mix of drama, mystery, and sci-fi. Half the fun of the show is discovering who the people were before arriving on the island. Obviously we get the benefit of the flashbacks, but right from the first minute of the pilot we are thrust into the crash and our only way to try and figure out who these people are is by judging their actions on the island. Which is exactly what we'd be doing if we were in their shoes. Anywho, if you get a chance, check the show out, but keep in mind you kinda have to watch every episode in order to understand the plot.
This weekend I was quite busy. Friday night at youth went pretty well. It was nice to have Steve back and not be the sole guy in charge. Saturday I slept in and went and bought some new winter boots. There weren't many left so I had to buy a 10.5 M instead of the 10 E of my last pair. I haven't worn them outside yet. I want to wear them around the house for a little bit to make sure they are comfortable. I'll have to treat them as well since they are leather boots. Saturday I went out for supper and hung out with friends. Toby and Alysha were in town for the weekend so it was nice to hang with them again.
Sunday afternoon after church I went to a family's house for lunch with some friends. It was a little awkward since the conversation ended up being mostly about politics which is a subject I know nothing about or have any interest in learning. So I just quietly ate my meal which was quite delicious and filling. After the meal some of us played table tennis which was a lot of fun. For one guy the game was all about hitting the other team with the ball so we laughed a lot as we dodged his shots. After the evening service we were all supposed to head out to watch the Grey Cup with other college and career groups, but only four of us from All Nations went. We mostly kept to ourselves and played some pool and fuze-ball.
I'm no longer in charge of the music Sunday nights. I guess I didn't quite realize what being in charge of the evening service meant when I volunteered. Anyway, Gerry, the guy who does sound for us, took it upon himself to organize a couple other groups so we can have rotating teams. My first instinct was to say no when he asked me if I was cool with his idea, but I quickly realized how good of an idea it is. It means I don't have to lead every single week. It means I don't have to worry about finding a replacement if I get sick or want to go away. It means I can focus more on my guys, and getting them ready to play as a band. I'm going to try running sound for one of the other bands. I've never sat behind a sound board for a band before. Tomorrow night Gerry is going to show me the ropes. I'm mostly concerned about having to look after two mixes at the same time on a Sunday night: one for the sanctuary and the other for the radio. It'll be an experience for sure.
Today was decorating day at work. So around lunch time we started putting up decorations and then ate free pizza once we were done. And wow am I ever full right now. Pizza is so my weakness when it comes to food.
Matthew.

Glad you'll be able to put more focus on the band now. Should help a ton! Pizza's the bomb! Nuke me any day. :D
