No Idols is No More

Well it's official. This Saturday, Sept. 10th is the last gig for the band. It sure came as a shock to the church. First they lose Toby and Teresa as important members of their main worship team and now they lose us, their second team. Most people have been asking if I'm okay with the break-up or not and I have to snicker since I was one of the people wanting to end it. If you've been reading my blog for more than a month or two then you already know that the end of the band has been a long time coming.

With the band gone it leaves a void for the church on Sunday nights musically. So I've stepped up to the plate to become the new Sunday night worship leader. I met with Pastor Jeremy after work and he's definitely excited to see the evening service move towards a much more relaxed format. If the service runs late because of music, prayer, or the message, it's all good. The thing is I need to find a new band now. I'm hoping I can get Josh, our old drummer. It would be so nice to have at least one person I don't have to worry about musically. I also don't have to worry about him in terms of worshiping either. He's a solid drummer who knows what is and isn't appropriate in a worship setting. Finding another bass player will probably be the toughest task. I'll be running an add in the bulletin next week asking for anyone interested in being a part of Sunday nights to contact me. I'm pretty sure there are more people like me who would like to help out, but don't want to be involved in the big Sunday morning hoopla.

In other news, I finally got to spend some time with Brady last night. It felt so good to hold him and cuddle with him. Such a sweet sweet baby. The highlight of the evening definitely had to be having him fall asleep in my arms. My parents are fun to watch as they interact with him as well. My mom ended up with a lap full of pooh because it escaped from his diaper somehow. She was laughing the hardest out of all of us. He's a very healthy little guy with a big appetite and plenty of strength as he wiggles around. He's also very quiet, content, and fuss much. Pretty much the only time he's guaranteed to cry is when you first but him in the bath. Hopefully there will be many more nights to come where I can gently rock him to sleep.

Matthew.

  • He's so tiny! And yes, he's very cute, too. You are very lucky to have him, and that you can be around to cuddle him, and put him to sleep... (I missed a lot with my niece and nephew.) Don't take it for granted!

    Take care, my friend!
