And Life Goes On
Being back at work has been pretty rough. I have been extra tired when I get home and the naps I usually take before supper haven't been very refreshing. I talked to my boss yesterday and the chances of having my contract renewed are high - they got nearly all the funding they requested for this school year.. He's been away for three weeks so he has a lot of paper work to go through before he can give me a definitive answer. He said I should hear back from him this week, but I'm guessing it will be more like next week. Hopefully this contract will be something a little more long term.
I also told him that I'm considering buying a house. The itch to move seems to have stopped growing, but it is definitely still there. My parents were talking this week like I'd still be living with them in a year and man did that ever bother me. And as much as I'd like to change jobs, a new contract should be the means I need to get my own place. I chatted quickly with Steve on the weekend and he's still interested in being roommates.
My throat feels all funny today which is not a good thing since I'm supposed to lead worship tonight at church. I've got a bit of a cough. The one thing I haven't figured out about my trip is why I didn't get nauseous on a daily basis like I do here. It didn't fail that my first day back in Sudbury I ended up with nausea. So I guess my meds aren't the problem, but if not then what is? Is it something about my parents house that's causing it? Is it something in Sudbury's air? Well there are lots of things in Sudbury's air so I wouldn't doubt that. Was I just too busy on my trip to notice it? Maybe it's the stress from living with my parents that causes me to feel sick to my stomach. All I know is that it all started when I first began taking these meds. I have an appointment with my specialist next week so we'll see what he says.
I've ordered myself a new video card for my computer which will mean being able to play my games in all their eye-candied glory. The card I ordered is a refurbished model and it was a pre-order so I'm not sure when I'll be getting my card. I'm not in a huge hurry to get it so I figure if I get it within a month I'll be happy. Because the card is refurbished I saved at least $200 and the card still comes with a full 3 year warranty since it was repaired by ATI. I'm definitely excited about it so hopefully it doesn't take too long to get here. ;)
I also scored myself a free 14-day trial of World of Warcraft by picking up the latest edition of PC Gamer magazine. This game is a Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG) which means as I run around inside the game, there are people from all over the world running around inside the game as well. I've only been playing for two nights now so I haven't really met anyone per se, but the first night I spent some time killing monsters and exploring with one guy who seemed pretty nice. World of Warcraft is very fun and I can see how easy it is to spend a lot of time playing it. Time flies when you're having fun and there's always one more quest to finish or one more monster to kill in order to level up your character. The thing about MMORPGs is that they all, with the exception of Guild Wars, require a monthly fee to play them. So I'll have to think long and hard about whether or not I want to keep playing after my 14-day free trial is up. It will probably cost me around $20/month to play thanks to the poor US/CAD exchange rate. It seems like a lot at first glance but it's not that bad of a price for some quality entertainment.
