Road Trip!

This weekend I'm heading back to Mississauga, but this time I get to drive my own car. I'm pretty excited to finally get the change to take my Jetta on its first road trip - a true test of the millage and the comfort level inside. Oh and of course I'll be visiting with Dana, Andy, and Nathan while I'm down there. I haven't told them about the car yet so it'll be fun to surprise them. As far as they know I'll be getting another rental.

It's so nice to finally own my own car. To be able to come and go as I please without having to ask permission or conform to someone else's driving schedule. I've enjoyed finding all the little features and nuances of my Jetta. Things like the little red lights that shine down on the center console for increased visibility at night. There's a little shelf in the top of the glove box just for the owners manual which saves a ton of space in there. After you turn the car off, you can put the windshield wipers in "service mode" which leaves them sitting up on the windshield for easy accessibility. The floor of the trunk can clip on the top lip of the trunk so you don't have to hold it up while you access the spare. All these little things that just add value to the car. Now all I need is a garage so it's not covered in pollen and tree buds from the tree I have to park under at home. I'll definitely go for a car wash before I leave for Mississauga.

Nothing new to report on my house hunt. I went to view a place on Monday that seemed quite under priced considering how it looked on paper and the very large back yard. But the house was quite run down. Probably a nice fixer-upper for someone who wants the challenge. I want to do work on my house and learn all about it, but I don't want a whole lot that I have to do before I'm able to move in. A few people have asked why I don't build, but I've always associated building with needing a lot of money. Plus if I do that I'll have to design it as the ultimate bachelor pad which definitely wouldn't come cheap. :D

Matthew.

  • Congratulations on your purchase! I'm sure you'll have a lovely road trip, and many more to come.

    Is your Jetta a diesel?

I was one of the people who left an encouraging post. I went to Lockerby too, and I was in the band. :p

  • It's a shame that the price of diesel has jumped up a lot in the past year. The only good thing about the price of diesel is that it doesn't seem to be as volatile as the price of gasoline.

    Have a safe trip! :)
