More About Work

Not long after I posted my last blog entry my manager came and sat me down and he vented to me how he was disappointed that the job was given to Dave and he wanted to make sure I understood it was all about politics. He and the other assistant manager of the department urged our boss not to accept Dave for the position because they didn't feel he was the right choice in the long run. They wanted to wait until the job could be posted externally so they could find the best person for the job, be it me or someone else. But our boss was afraid of the union and so Dave got the job. He obviously has enough qualifications for our boss to be worried about coming up with a good reason to turn him down. Today is Dave's first day and I'm not sure how much I'll be working with him but I'll definitely have to suck it up and try my best not to hold a grudge against the guy. I mean it's not like he applied for the job just cause I wanted it. There's no way he could have known that I wanted a shot at the job since we never met before. Now if only Finance can get their butts in order so I can get paid this week.

Just 4 more work days and I'm on vacation for two weeks. Woo! This will be my first real time off since I started here in Feb. Since I'm on contract I don't get a paid vacation, or sick days for that matter, but I'll take it anyways. I'm so not looking forward to battling the crowds in the malls though. I only have 2 of 5 gifts left to buy so it shouldn't be too bad as long as I know what I'm getting. If only I knew what to get my brother-in-law. Grrr.

I should have gotten my copy of the extended edition of Return Of The King sometime today. I'm pretty excited since I'll be getting it a day before it's out in stores again. Woo hoo hoo. The movie is now over 4 hrs of butt-numbing goodness plus all the extras and commentaries. Well I sure hope it's good, but I have faith since the other two didn't let me down. I sure won't be bored this week after work. Heh heh. :D
