Time For a Shutdown

Well it's Friday and that means the office is being shutdown for the next two weeks. Unfortunately it doesn't mean I get the vacation I was hoping for. My supervisor George wants me to come in and do work over the break. Adding more hours on my time sheet will be nice but I was looking forward to maybe getting out of the city again. Now that doesn't look like it's going to happen. But then making money is usually a better thing than spending it.

Tomorrow is the party for Christi-Ann and Dwight and things are already tense around the house. For a reason unknown to me my dad wanted to go to the church last night and set up tables and chairs. I'm not terribly excited about being volunteered to help with this party since they haven't involved me in it at all so far. My dad was already in a snappy mood when we got there so after we set up the tables and chairs he wanted to "throw up some decorations". I said no because Jen, my other sis who lives in Toronto, wouldn't be happy with whatever decorating we did so why bother doing it twice? Well of course he got all snappy again saying that there wasn't enough time and blah blah blah. Whatever. I didn't want to decorate especially because I knew Jen would want to do it. She got in last night at around 10:30 so she has all day today, tonight and tomorrow morning to decorate so I don't know why my dad is all in a hurry. I'm not looking forward to getting home from work today since I'm sure I'll get put to work as soon as I step through the door.

The party is happening in the church I grew up in and where my parents still go. I don't think I've stepped foot inside there for about 4 years so it was definitely a trip down memory lane. Not much has changed downstairs. I'll have to check out the sanctuary when I'm there this weekend. One of the first things that came to mind when I walked in was how it still smells the same. Strange that I would note something like that.

Matthew.
