I'm Home!
Well I'm back in Sudbury safe and sound after a really great weekend in Ottawa. My only complaint would be that it was too short. ;)
Thursday I drove to Ottawa. I stopped once at a picnic table rest spot to eat my lunch. It was a really nice wooded area with a lake or two. It's been a while since I spent time outside by myself. I even walked through some knee-high grass for the first time in a long time. It was nice and peaceful. Once I got near Ottawa a really bad thunder storm started. It was pretty hard to see through the down pour and the lightning strikes were pretty cool. Some areas of the city were without power for a few hours. It took me almost 6 hrs to get to Ottawa and 1hr to get through downtown to Rob and Leslie's place. The traffic was unbelievable. We had dinner with a couple of their friends and then went downtown to watch the amazing fireworks. There were SO many people. They even had fireworks that make a star inside a circle and hearts as well. I'd like to know how they do that.
Friday I spent the day with Rob. We went to a computer store and looked around. I've been looking to make my computer quieter but they didn't have everything I wanted so I just bought a fan for my case and some thumb screws. Then we went to a Christian bookstore and I bought a couple CDs. Rob was pretty amazed at the variety and the professionalism of the Christian music industry. He and Leslie go to an Anglican church but their faith isn't very apparent. Anyways, I bought Starfield's official Sparrow release, Jennifer Knapp: The Collection, and Bethany Dilon's The Beautiful Sessions. Good stuff good stuff. Then Rob and I went to see Spider-Man 2. Woo! What a great movie. If you liked the 1st one, this one is even better. A very fun movie. Oh and we even got a free comic book for going! :D Then Rob, Leslie and I just vegged at night. Talked and watched some TV. Nothing interesting, but nice and relaxing.
Saturday I spent some time with my friend Sabrina. We chatted and had brunch together. She was all worried I wouldn't show up.... I guess I should have called her Friday night. Then I left for the wedding which was a lot of fun. I got to see a lot of my old friends and of course Kerry and Richard the newlyweds. The wedding took place at a church camp in Quebec and the service was held in their outdoor chapel. A very beautiful setting. The dinner was quite nice, chicken shishcabobs with rice and veggies and carrot cake for dessert. Yummy yummy. I didn't stay too long once the dancing started cause the camp was 1.5 hrs from Ottawa. I got back to Rob's and Leslie's at around midnight.
This morning I woke up and decided not to go to church. I was planning on going to visit the church I went to when I lived in Ottawa, but I just felt an urge to get on the road. So I called home to tell my parents when to expect me, went to Denny's and had a big brunch, and was on the road by 11am. I didn't stop once and got home at 4pm after another relatively uneventful drive. The roads were much busier this time, but it started raining about 2 hours out of Sudbury so I had to make sure I stayed alert. All told I think I drove about 1500 km (900 miles) this weekend. So tonight I'll be going to bed early. Heh heh. I'll have to see about posting pictures once I get my film developed.
